As Sementinhas is a meeting place for Galician speaking children
from 0 to 3 years old. For one afternoon a month from 5-7pm at
Semente das Moas, girls and boys can play and participate in
activities that promote their development in an environment of
respect, encouragement and love for our language and culture.
“Sometimes mothers and fathers need trusted people to take care
of their children when we cannot.”
For this reason, BABÁS was born a network of Galician-speaking
caregivers, so that our children are with people with whom we feel
at ease, with whom we know that they will be well taken care of and
who will always speak to them in Galician, their mother tongue.
Commission of activities
As part of Semente’s pedagogical project, the recovery of the
traditional festive calendar is included. Traditional festivals are an
expression of a people’s culture that allow us to keep our roots alive
and help us understand where we came from.
From Semente we propose to revitalize these festivities, with a
series of recovery and revitalization actions open to the whole
In recent years, we have undertaken the celebration of a series of
festivities specific to the festive calendar in public spaces in
Compostela, with the participation of a family audience that is
increasing with each edition.
These celebrations include:
The Apalpador’s visit in December
The carnival in February
The festival of May
The collection of the herbs of Sam Jóam and the water of the seven
